Sally Linkenauger

Create Positive Impact

Today there is another interesting study to share with you. It was a research conducted by behavioral scientists Charles Lee and Sally Linkenauger.

The researchers randomly split 41 amateur golf players into two groups. Each one of them received a putter and was asked to attempt ten putts.

There was a slight different. Only second group was informed that the putter had once belonged to professional golf player Ben Curtis, while the first one was not although the same putter was given.

Amazingly, the second group sank 32% more putts than the first one. Interesting research, isn’t it?

Now let’s see how you could apply this to your selling. Customers could be the same as those golfers who were split into two groups.

If they know some positive history of your products, the chance to close will also be significantly higher. Now let’s see the example of what you can say.

“Recently ABC Co., Ltd. just bought from me (try to select well known customer if possible). The result was that they could save up to 10,000 THB from their operation cost by using my product.”

“They couldn’t help thinking how much more they could save if they started using my product much earlier. How would it help your company if you could also save that amount of money per month?”

Below are the benefits of this technique.

1) Case study from other customers, especially with the similar background is always one of the best proofs.

2) Customer will be much more confident, based on such a history.

3) Open-ended question at the end allows customer to imagine why they also buy from you.

Find out how you could also apply this kind of scrip to your selling. Not bad at all from my point of view.
