Customer’s Decision VS Your Presentation

As always explained, there is the only person who is supposed to be center everything in sales. And of course, that person is ‘customer’.

Therefore how you present depends greatly on customer also. It is completely wrong to use your product as a center no matter how good your products are.

First of all, let’s be reminded that customers’ decisions are mostly made emotionally. Rationale only comes to support whatever reason their emotions say so.

Somebody might be arguing. For instance, they might not understand how customers use emotion to make such a decision for products like industrial tool.

It doesn’t matter what products they are engaged in. It is almost impossible that their decision is based purely on rationale.

There is no exception for this case either. Customer might make a decision, based on their emotions towards how sellers treat them. Then rationale will only come afterwards.

Those emotions do not have to be related to products only.

Now let’s take a look at how you present. Normally, good presentation is based on benefit (how customer would be better off), not feature (what products can do).

It is obvious that benefit is related to emotion, while feature is more about technical part and rationale.

For instance, if you a car dealer, a feature of your car might be 6 air-backs. But a benefit would be safety of the family because your customer always travels with kids every day.

In this case, you do not sell air-back, but you’d rather sell safety of the family which is more related to the emotion.

It is now up to you how you come up with good benefits to link with customers’ emotions.
